China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ChemChina. It was established in October 1992 on the basis of the merging between the Scientific and Technological Information Research Institute of the Ministry of the Chemical Industry established in 1959 and the EconomicInformationCenter of the Ministry of the Chemical Industry established in 1984.

As an information research unit of the Ministry of the Chemical Industry in the past, CNCIC provided services to government decision-making and enterprise development, made brilliant achievements and enjoyed great prestige both at home and abroad. With the approval of the State Council, CNCIC was transformed into an enterprise of science and technology directly under the Central Government in 1999 and therefore launched its new expedition from a new starting point.

As a national center for chemical comprehensive information research, information service and computer application technology development, a branch of the national engineering and technology library, a national center for chemical international exhibition and exchange, an audio-video publishing center and an energy conservation center, CNCIC has devoted itself to the development of the chemical information sector, tracked the scientific and technical level and the economic development of the world chemical industry, studied and analyzed the developments, industrial trends and high-tech advances of the chemical industry both at home and abroad and unfolded multi-leveled and all-directional information services and exchanges. Today, CNCIC has become a national scientific and technological information network center and information service center of the chemical industry with a great prestige.

CNCIC owns more than 300 highly-qualified scientific and technological personnel in various specialties. More than 100 of them are senior researchers and experts in the information research and computer application of science, technology, economy, market and management in the chemical industry. It has 200 000 copies of books, materials and documents and more than 2 300 periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages and is also equipped with advanced computers and network equipment. It has made long-time tracking, research and analysis to the developments, industrial trends and high-tech advances of the chemical industry both at home and abroad, provided reports on the market survey, projection analysis and feasibility study of industrial sectors, special subjects and products. It has edited and published more than a dozen periodicals and materials on special topics for open circulation both at home and abroad, as well as internal publications, and reported great quantities of valuable information and research achievements. It has undertaken quite a few government research projects, run more than a dozen well-known Internet websites, established nearly a hundred databases and provided Internet trade services. CNCIC has also organized large domestic and international exhibitions and conferences.
